In the beginning of the year, trying to get back into the rhythm of school and it’s work load can be more difficult than one thinks. One way to help ease the transition from doing nothing to everything is making a trip out of it and going to a local coffee shop. While Starbucks is a valid and convenient choice, these other coffee shops can offer a change of scene as well as a quaintness that might help someone struggling to complete their weekly workload.  While the closing of Glen Ellyn’s Caribou Coffee left a hole in many of our hearts, these other coffee lover locations can be found a short drive away.

The first coffee destination can be found at Wheaton’s River City Roasters. Located on Main Street, this new business offers friendly service and atmosphere.  With their own unique blends of coffee made with barrel-aged beans are priced between $12.00 and $15.00 for 12 ounce packs. River City Roasters provides great tasting beverages as well as a new study spot for anyone near the area. But not only that, River City is working towards improving the community as well. Partnering with non-profit Venture Corps, River City Roasters have a goal to improve the community and the lives of those within it. Making the decision to go there for your latest cup of joe a benefit for everyone. You can go there and do your part to help from 7a.m. to 8p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Blackberry Market is next on the list, located on Glen Ellyn’s Main Street this café is known for their delicious food and bakery but offers great coffee as well. This market is the perfect spot for cramming for the next test. With a modern look while maintaining a sense of hospitality, Blackberry Market offers everything from Lattes to Macchiatos at the reasonable prices of $2.75-$3.75, with baked goods no more than $3.00. With a high level of commitment and preparation, they guarantee the best pour of coffee every time. Find out for yourself between 7a.m. and 7p.m. Monday through Friday and 7a.m. to 5p.m. Sunday.​

Lastly, The Corner House Café can be an excellent choice for a sit down as well. With a focus on creating a homey environment while maintaining a unique culture, The Corner House helps you, “sit back, relax, and make yourself feel at home.” An extensive menu with hot and cold drinks priced $3.00-$5.00 leaves no want for variety. Pastries are no more than $4.00 and their green, black and herbal tea no more than $4.00 as well. Add to the list of fans by visiting at their location on St. Charles Road in Lombard from 7a.m. to 8p.m. Monday through Friday and 8a.m. to 8p.m. Sunday.
