Volley for the Cure

Glenbard South High School hosted its annual Volley for the Cure game on October 6th at 5:30 p.m.  Volley for the Cure was an event to support and raise money for breast cancer. Varsity and sophomore teams played in the main gym while the freshman teams played in the fieldhouse.

In honor of breast cancer survivors, the gym was covered in pink streamers and words like “Survivor” and “Warrior” were written on the posters that covered the walls. Students in the stands sported custom pink shirts that were sold throughout the week.

Breast cancer Survivors who were present at the game were gifted with a pink rose.  All proceeds went towards the breast cancer research foundation.

Winning the three games against Riverside Brookfield helped Glenbard South to tie for conference lead. During the varsity game, senior Mackenzie Watterson broke a record once again with 23 kills in a match.

Not only did the Glenbard South Volleyball team fight hard and win for itself, but the team also fought against breast cancer.
