Dipping Happiness

Dipping Happiness

When I step foot into The Melting Pot, my senses are overwhelmed with the odor of melted cheese, tender meat and rich chocolate. Everytime I eat at this restaurant, I know two hours of delicious fondue, is awaiting me.

The Melting Pot is a classy fondue restaurant that is open from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. on weekdays and 4 p.m. until 12 p.m. on the weekends.
While eating at this restaurant, patrons dip the foods they order into a small silver bowl in the middle of their table. This unique aspect of the restaurant gives customers an experience they have never had before: preparing their own food in a restaurant.

Cooking times vary for the multitude of different food items on the menu. Side items like spinach ravioli only take thirty seconds to cook, while meats like steak and chicken take three minutes to cook. The short cooking time is not inconvenient, nor is it physically taxing.

Another remarkable feature of The Melting Pot is the dim and romantic atmosphere. This luxurious environment allows guests to focus on the company at their table and the delicious food they are eating.
In addition to the calm atmosphere, each table is secluded in its own area. This seclusion gives customers privacy and makes sure that noise does not travel from table to table.

Throughout their meal, customers can indulge on a decadent four course meal. First, customers can devour their choice of nine different types of cheeses including, Wisconsin and New Orleans cheddar to name a couple. As a second course, there are various fresh salads like Caesar. For the third course, there are mouthwatering meats, including chicken and filet. At the end of the meal, customers can choose one of the many chocolate fondue options.

One perk to getting the cheese fondue and the chocolate fondue is the small “dippers” that come with them, including different vegetables for the cheese and pound cake for the chocolate.
People may think that The Melting Pot is unsanitary because raw meat sits on plates on the tables, but it is very sanitary and each table is disinfected after the guests are done eating. Also, the floor of the restaurant is spotless, and the bathrooms look very tidy.

With only three locations in Illinois, two of them are fairly close to the Glen Ellyn area. The address of the location in Downers Grove is, 1205 Butterfield Rd, Downers Grove, IL 60515 and the address of the location in Naperville is, 4931 South Route 59, Ste 101, Naperville, IL 60564.

One negative aspect to The Melting Pot is the high price of the food. One pot of the Wisconsin trio melted cheese costs $9.75 and one plate of steak is $41.99. To continue, the strawberry almond salad costs $6.99 and a pot of the original milk chocolate costs $9.25 per person. More food prices include $9.50 per person for the flaming turtle chocolate, $39.99 for the land the sea meat plate, $9.75 per person for the spinach artichoke cheese and $5.99 for the California salad.

Overall, the portion sizes are pretty small for the price, but the quality of the food and the dark romantic atmosphere make the high price worth the visit.
I rate The Melting Pot five out of five stars, and I highly suggest this restaurant for couples who are looking for a quiet night out. This rating also applies to the servers at The Melting Pot. They are very kind as they give recommendations on their favorite foods and pay attention to every customer’s need.

The Melting Pot really gives its customers a dining experience like no other.
