From February 16 to 24, the entire Glenbard district celebrated Live Life Well Week with the theme of “Your Story is Just Beginning.” To kick off the week, Glenbard students participated in the Linus project by making blankets at Ackerman Sports Center for children battling cancer. “I love seeing all of the Glenbards there for such a good cause,” explains Mrs. Marina Kosak, Dean of Student Affairs.
The newest edition to this tradition is the blood drive. “It’s about giving and doing what’s best for our community,” says Mrs. Marina Kosak, Assistant Principal of Student Services. On Tuesday and Wednesday, the Future Medical Professionals club put on a blood drive for Live Life Well Week. “By adding the blood drive now, we are helping people outside of the school,” Mrs. Kosak explains, “and that has a great impact on not only our wellbeing as a school community, but Glen Ellyn, Wheaton, Lombard, everyone!”
Live Life Well Week originates with the Students 4 Students club run by Ms. Tina Zupec and Mrs. Gilda Ross. Each year, Mrs. Ross and Students 4 Students brainstorm themes and activity ideas. “This week is a result of district-wide efforts and supported immensely by the administrations across the buildings,” says Dr. Chaloka, “There is a lot of behind the scenes word, shout out to Ms. Zupec and the SFS club for their work too! It is a true team effort to get it all together.”
Live Life Well Week is a way for students to pause and reflect. “It is so important for students to take care of themselves, find time to relax and enjoy themselves and reflect on what it means to “live life well,” stated Dr. Chaloka. Mrs. Kosak agreed, saying Live Life Well Week is “just something that gives [students] something to feel good about, and that we are here to support them.”
