Fall is the perfect time to sit down and relax, take a cup of hot coffee with, of course, popcorn and watch the latest movies released. One watches  movies to be entertained and sometimes to forget reality. Some of these movies include “The Skeleton Twins ,” “This is Where I Leave You,” “The Longest Week,” “The Guest,” “Two Night Stand” and “The Maze Runner.” The different types of genres and the moral of the story helps one to choose the perfect one on movie night.

“The Skeleton Twins,” directed by Craig Johnson, is a drama primarily about Maggie (Kristen Wiig) and Milo (Bill Hader), who are twins who get separated and to go on their own paths. Years later, they unite and learn that the other has become closer to each other. The strength seen in this movie is the portrayal of family relationships and forgiveness. Moreover, the weakness seen would be how Milo handles his homosexuality. This connects backs to his past of abuse. “The Skeleton Twins” was released on September 12, 2014.

For all the people who like comedy and want laughter out of a movie, “This is Where I Leave You,” directed by Shawn Levy, would be the one to see. The movie aired on September 19, 2014. The overall message in this movie is that families are messed up and that family is the key to insanity, which reminds us of who we are. In the story, there are four siblings: Judd Altman (Jason Bateman), Wendy (Tina Fey), Philip (Adam Driver), and Paul (Corey Stoll). They are all grown adults who are forced to return home when their father passes away, and they all have to live under the same roof for a week, along with their mother Hillary (Jane Fonda) and spouses/exes. They are surrounded by chaos and redemption by reconnecting emotionally. The downside of this is that they do not actually solve the problem, but instead, find a way to escape from the problem. The strength of the movie is that the family becomes closer. This movie shows that nobody is perfect from the emotions played by the characters. Everyone is either sad, angry, lying or cheating.

The next movie is also a comedy, but it has a hint of drama to it. “The Longest Week,” directed by Peter Glanz, is about a rich man, Conrad Valmont (Jason Bateman). This character has a lot of free time on his hands, so he spends most of his time in his parent’s Manhattan Hotel. In one week, he finds himself evicted, disowned and in love. The strength in the movie is that Bateman plays a self-centered moron in his own reality. The weakness in the movie is him not getting a job because he no longer will inherit his parent’s will. So he charms his way through life, finding himself in over his head. Also, the weaknesses of Anderson’s divorce embodies how Conrad become is a dysfunctional adult. Moreover, Conrad moves in with his best friend Dylan (Billy Crudup) and steals his girlfriend Beatrice (Olivia Wilde), while his best friend is trying to set him up with a girl (Jenny Slate). This was released on September 5, 2014, and IMDB gave it a score of 5.5 out of 10.

A typical one night stand is for one night, right? Then you would go home. In this case, there is a twist in the “Two Night Stand.” After a one night stand, two strangers wake up to find themselves snowed in after sleeping through a blizzard in Manhattan. They are trapped together in a tiny apartment, forced to get to know each other way more than any one night stand should. One weakness of the movie is that Megan (Analeigh Tipton) feels insecure when her engagement to her fiancé is broken, and she can not get back on track. The strength of this movie is that Alec (Miles Teller) and Megan get to know each other, and it is better than one would expect it to be. This will be released on September 26, 2014 directed by Max Nichols.

Lastly, if one likes action, mystery and Sci-Fi, then one will love “The Maze Runner”, directed by Wes Ball. This is about Thomas (Dylan O’Brian), who wakes up in an elevator, remembering nothing but his own name. He emerges and sees teen boys who have learned to survive in a completely enclosed environment that survive on their own agriculture and supplies. A new boy arrives every month. Furthermore, the group has been in “The Glade” for two years, trying to find a way to escape through the Maze that surrounds their living space. Teresa (Kaya Scodelario), a comatose girl arrives with a strange note, and their world begins to change. The strength of this movie was the challenge they had to get through. The weakness of the movie was that the characters had no personality. “The Maze Runner” came out on September 19, 2014.

Movies are there for entertainment the entertainment of all ages. This fall, one can enjoy watching whatever movies he or she prefers, whether it would be “The Skeleton Twins,” “This is Where I Leave You,” “The Longest Week,” “Two Night Stand,” “The Maze Runner,” or any other movies coming out.
