Update: How to further prevent coronavirus
April 8, 2020
1. Wash your hands
Wash your hands with hot water and soap for at least twenty seconds. Do this before and after eating, after going to the bathroom and after returning from public places. However, you should always wash your hands if you are able to, even without COVID-19.
2. Do NOT wear a medical mask
Medical masks are not an effective measure against coronavirus, Masks should be saved for medical professionals and current COVID-19 positive patients as there is an extreme shortage in hospitals.
However, people should be wearing face coverings, such as scarves or cloth masks. It is important to note that after going out in public, makeshift masks should be washed.
3. Practice social distancing
Stay home and do not have social contact with people other than the members of your home. At stores and outside, stay six feet + away from others. Do not go to public parks or playgrounds either.
4. Cover your mouth
When coughing or sneezing, always cover your mouth. Do not cough or sneeze freely into the air or your hand, but muffle your mouth into the crook of your elbow or a tissue if available.
5. Practice a healthy lifestyle
Eat fruits and vegetables with high vitamin and mineral counts to help increase your immune system. Exercise for 20-60 minutes, 3-5 days per week as both a healthy diet and daily exercise help keep your body strong and healthy to fight off diseases.
6. Follow guidelines
If you are confused or concerned about the actual facts and statistics on who is getting coronavirus and how to best prevent it, follow the Center for Disease Control or the World Health Organization. Both the CDC and the WHO are considered to have the most up-to-date information available on COVID-19.
