Dance Winter Preview

Winter sports have begun, and the Glenbard South Raider Dance Team has transitioned swiftly from football season to competition season. During the football season, the dancers performed at the football halftime shows, on the sidelines, pep rallies, and at community events such as the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation run (JDRF).

Competition season will be very different. This year, the Dance Team will compete in the IHSA, Class 1A, which will be particularly small, so the dancers will have a fighting chance at state. Both teams will go to six competitions, including conference and sectionals. This year, both junior varsity and varsity will take two routines to these competitions. Varsity will perform a jazz piece and a lyrical piece while junior varsity will perform a pom piece and a jazz piece.

In addition, the dancers will also perform at the Glenbard South girls and boys basketball games.

The team has been very excited about this season and can not wait to start competing. The varsity head coach Haley Kruis shared, “I’m SO excited for our teams to compete, especially with us being back in 1A and junior varsity competing two routines for the first time ever! We were able to do our fun routines in the fall, but now it is time to show everyone all of the talent our team is full of!”

Kruis’ optimism has inspired the girls and has made them want to reach their full potential.
