Glenbard South boys varsity basketball saw the end of its season Friday, March 11,2016 with losing the IHSA sectional final 52-32 against Boylan Catholic High School.

At the beginning of the night the energy was loud within the Woodstock North High School gym, with two fan buses housing over 70 raider fans frrom Glenbard South. The theme for the game was a blackout where fans dressed head to toe in black while they stood cheering on the team.

“(We were) really excited about where we were- win or lose. We were happy with where we were,” said junior Charlie Bair, one of the starting players for the basketball team.

Senior Billy Bair won the jump ball initiating the game by tipping it off to senior Jonathan Walker. However, by the end of the first quarter, Boylan Catholic lead the Raiders 14-6.

During the second quarter, the Raiders started to catch up to the Titans, and the score jumped to 26 Titans, 18 Raiders.

While many thought the Raiders were going to turn around their game, the third quarter proved that they would ultimately fall to the Titans further. At the end of the third quarter, the score jumped to 39-28, Titans in the lead.

Furthermore, the fourth quarter was low scoring for the Raiders. Only scoring three points, the Titans brought the lead to 52-32. Boylan Catholic won the sectional Championship while the Glenbard South Raiders finished out their season.

“(We) gave it our all and gave it our best effort. They were a really good team,” said Charlie Bair.

With the season not ending as planned, Charlie Bair said, “(The team) was still happy winning Regionals.”
