The outfits. The glam. The excitement. That is only a snippet of what people are experiencing on the countdown to the release of “Wicked”, anxiously awaiting its debut on November 22nd after countless trailers and teasers.

One of our own students, Evi De La Cruz, is one of the countless fans eager to see the movie,  expressing that she is “very excited for ‘Wicked,’” perhaps that “this is the most excited she has been for a movie ever.”

Opinions abound surrounding the cast of “Wicked”. The cast includes Broadway star Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and pop star Ariana Grande as Galinda. Evi has said that she “really likes the casting, especially for the 2 main roles.” People normally only see Ariana Grande’s pop star side, but what they do not know is that Grande is a huge theatrical person. She has acted in TV shows such as “Sam and Cat”, “Victorious”, and many skits on “SNL.”

Despite Erivo’s incredible talent, she is not as well known (especially when compared to someone like Ariana Grande). “Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba is going to be absolutely incredible because she is one of the most underrated actresses ever and not a lot of people know about her, but they will now,” says Evi. “Together they will be unstoppable.”

The movie adaptation of the musical “Wicked” will bring crowds to the theatres.. The original musical lovers, “Wizard of Oz” enjoyers, Arianators, and just people who want to see the movie because it seems interesting. You can expect the theaters to be absolutely packed with people, so you should definitely buy your tickets in advance!
