Emily in Paris: What Will Season 4 Bring?

Emily in Paris: What Will Season 4 Bring?

“Camille didn’t come back from Greece to revive our relationship…she came back to tell me that…she’s pregnant,”Gabriel of “Emily in Paris” said as o ne of the major cliffhangers at the end of season three: what will become of this pregnancy? Will Gabriel go back to Camille, or will he finally pursue Emily, the woman he loves? Season four will have the answers.

Before discussing what is in store for season four, what happened in the past three seasons? Emily worked as a marketing executive in Chicago, but was moved to Paris to cover for her boss, who got pregnant. She worked alongside the Parisians-her boss Sylvie and her co-workers Julien and Luc-at a company called Savoir. She had a rough start at her new company because the French and the Americans view the workplace very differently. She befriended her neighbor Gabriel, his girlfriend Camille and a girl named Mindy. The four become close, but Emily and Gabriel develop feelings for each other. This was before Emily found out that Camille was his girlfriend. Camille eventually discovers this infidelity, and this causes turmoil between the friends.

Season two brought more drama into the story. Emily begins to date an Englishman, Alfie, who was brought to Paris for work. He is a good distraction from Gabriel, and Emily wants to keep the strong friendship she has with Camille after they reconciled. Madeline returns to work, beginning to take over Savoir. Sylvie is upset by the change in leadership. Madeline tries to convince Emily to move back to Chicago for her promotion, but Sylvie offers her a job in Paris, leaving her stuck.

Season three Emily finds herself working for both companies in secret because she has not quit Savoir yet to join Sylvie. Eventually, Sylvie finds out that Emily never quit and fires her. Camille and Gabriel develop problems in their relationship, and Camille eventually develops feelings for a Greek woman, Sofia. They both work at art exhibits, and Camille then travels to Greece with Sofia. Sylvie takes Emily back as she realizes she is a vital asset to the company. Emily and Gabriel grow close again as she helps Gabriel’s restaurant on its path to earning a Michelin Star. As the season comes to an end, Gabriel chooses to propose to Camille, but Camille backs out at the altar because she knows Gabriel and Emily are in love. Alfie then leaves Emily, and Gabriel explains to Emily that he is now considering marrying Camille   since he found out that she  is pregnant. Now there are multiple questions to be asked. Will Camille go back to Sofia? Will Camille and Gabriel reconcile or will he pursue Emily? Will Gabriel earn a Michelin Star? We will see when season four comes out. Moving on, what do we know about season four so far?

Season four began filming in January 2024, and will probably premiere in December 2024. Although, filming may be delayed due to the Summer Olympics going on this year in Paris. One of the key producers stated that “when it comes to securing locations in Paris, it’s first come, first served, so it’s a bit of a rat race right now. Most places are already saturated,” according to Teen Vogue.

Regarding content, Camille’s Greek lover Sofia will return, but there is no guarantee that Alfie will. Lily Collins, who plays Emily, commented, “Emily has had to fight to win Alfie back once, so I don’t know if that’s going to happen again…I don’t know how Alfie feels about that”(Hollywood Reporter). Creator of the show Darren Star made a comment on Alfie’s return in the Hollywood Reporter, saying, “I don’t think, romantically, he is in the picture..I don’t think that makes Alfie out of the show. He certainly has a reason to be in Paris, and he’s working with Gabriel. I feel like all of our characters are still connected, just in a more complicated way.”  Based on these statements, we have no way to know for sure if he will be in season four. Writers for Teen Vogue believe that season four will not include Camille’s baby, since the past three seasons have been over the course of six months.

Season four is set to feature more backstory for the secondary characters, specifically Sylvie. The Hollywood Reporter expressed, “From the beginning, she’s a character that doesn’t want to be known… You see the stories from different points of view. I think now that we see the world a little bit from Sylvie’s point of view, we’ll learn more about Sylvie.”

There are lots of rumors and possibilities to think about as we await the arrival of season four, as well as many cliffhangers to be resolved. What will be revealed? What will be left in the dark? What we know so far is that filming has started, some characters will be returning and we will receive a closer look at Sylvie. Lily Collins added in the Hollywood Reporter, “What I can tell is we have more fun, more fashion and, of course, more drama in store for you all. Emily is going to have to decide if everything she’s ever wanted is really what she needs, and while Emily’s heart will always remain true to Paris, her life takes some unexpected twists this season.” Our questions will soon be answered. Now we must wait until the mysteries are revealed.
