As the Glenbard South community approaches the end of the 2021-2022 school year, athletes are currently taking time to reflect on how they performed
individually and as a team during their season’s. Unlike last year,
South was able to offer all of their sports to their students this year
with Covid-19 rules being in place at the beginning for fall and winter sports. Even with the unexpected shifts and missing seasons last school year, raider athletes came in strong and showed their dedication during their sport seasons.
Among the various fall sports offered, the football team started off
the school year athletics with an outstanding season record. Ending with a record of 9-2, Coach Crissey stated that although the team was eager on making it to state, he’s “very proud of the team’s achievements and efforts this season”. The raider community is surely excited to see what next fall brings!
Similarly, this winter season was a success with the girls dance teams hosting a Upstate 8 Conference meet for the first time at Glenbard South. With both JV and Varsity girls getting above third place, Coach Krius and Coach Winebrenner gave shout outs to all of the senior dancers and the captains, Keira Saltand Taylor Tricroce, for being amazing leaders and examples to their teammates.
Spring sports surely haven’t been forgotten and they keep becoming more competitive as the seasons approach their end. Both girls and boys track started their season around two months ago and continue to strive for getting their place at the state meet, being hosted at Eastern Illinois University this year. Coach Bledsoe and Coach Gorski have faith in their athletes and continue to motivate them at each practice and meet.

Without many Raiders acknowledging, the school year has rapidly flown by as we continue to approach May. With Covid-19 regulations being put in place earlier this year, many athletes didn’t get the season they were hoping for but coaches, parents and the Glenbard South raiders were content to see the determination many still had regardless. We hope that all spring raider athletes continue having a fantastic season and congratulate all fall and winter athletes on their terrific seasons.
