The Raiders badminton season has arrived, with tryouts having approached quickly! If interested in joining, there was some important information about open gyms and tryouts.

The Glenbard South badminton coaches held open gyms to inspire students, staff and community to join in the fun of badminton. It has become a place where anyone would be welcomed to play and share the love of the game competitively or non-competitively. The open gym dates for the 2020 season included February 24th, February 27th and March 1st.

Afterwards, tryouts for the team will officially be held on March 12th and 13th. If debating whether to join the team, keep these few things in mind. The girls badminton team has been deemed one of a kind. The coaches and athletes pride themselves on having created a positive, supportive environment on and off the court. This attitude helped all of the players reach full potential not only as athletes, but as teammates.

Specifically, important traits to have for the team includes hard work, dedication, coachability, attitude and sportsmanship. This year, the team’s goal will be to focus on playing with passion, heart and determination to do one’s best on the court. The girls will be able to walk away proud of themselves and with no regrets knowing that they left it all on the court, win or lose.

Varsity badminton coach Lisa Roy stated, “ability is what you are capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it.”

As a coach, Roy will not necessarily be looking for talent, but a student that will be willing to try and participate as a positive team member.
