Technology has greatly evolved in the past years especially with internet security.  Interestingly, a very common question has arisen throughout the years- is the government watching Americans through cameras such as phones?

According to eff.org, “The US government, with assistance from major telecommunications carriers including AT&T, has engaged in massive, illegal dragnet surveillance of domestic communications records of millions of ordinary Americans since at least 2001.” Cleary, there has been US Government agencies like the NSA have access to phone calls, text messages, videos and photos. They also read emails and take files from the phone.

Can the government look through cell phone or computer cameras? On usatoday.com, Brett Molina states, “ So as long as the camera is clearly blocked and no one can see through the tape, you’re good.”

Essentially the answer to the question is yes, the government has access to the phone cameras and can observe people at any time it pleases.

Some would agree that this is a considerable idea as it keeps the country safe from suspicious activity. On the other hand, some would disagree with this due to the fact that it invades privacy.

Because it remains mysterious, many conspiracy theories have been thrown around about this particular topic. The government has not addressed this. At this point in time, the American Government is questioned constantly for the reason that it regularly conceals the truth.
