Tryouts for the Glenbard South’s boys swimming started Monday, November 20th.

“I’m pretty excited for the start of the new season on the 20th,” said swim captain Colin Janis. However, swimming practices have been going on at Butterfield Park District since the beginning of the summer, but ever since the start of school, practices have changed to indoor and at 5 p.m. after the school day ends.

Also, Swim meets began at 5 p.m., Thursday, September 7 at Bartlett High School. Also, September 9 at 9 p.m. was also the first invite of the season with the swimming relays.

Tryouts for this season of the  boys swim team during the winter of 2017-18 ran from November 20-21 at the College of Dupage. Next, the expectations for varsity tryouts include a 5×200 Freestyle with a time of 2:35 or better, 8×100 Kick with a time of 1:45 or better, and a 6×100 Individual Medley with a time of 1:30 or better. The expectations for junior varsity would be to complete a 200 Freestyle without stopping, complete a 100 kick with a board without stopping, and to have a fundamental understanding of all four strokes which include the freestyle, butterfly, breaststroke and backstroke.

“Hopefully this season will allow us to improve as a team,” said coach Christopher Flamion. Also, the start of the season was November 20th and the first meet will begin next week on December 7th facing Bartlett High School.
