‘The Blind Side’: extraordinarily special

Vinti Bakhshi, Scoop Writer

“The Blind Side” is a heartbreaking film which brings a whole new perspective into life through its incredible plot. This movie boasts twists and turns which are uniquely scattered throughout the storyline and surprise viewers in unthinkable ways. If you have been searching for a movie which will make you cry but also laugh uncontrollably, this movie is great for you to see on DVD.

Furthermore, this film was based on a true story in regards to the football player, Michael Oher, and the Tuohy family, who did the unthinkable to save Oher’s life by taking him into their home. Oher, in real life and in the movie, grew up with a drug-obsessed and alcoholic mother and a father who killed himself. He was very much lost in terms of his life goals because he did not have a home to go to. Fortunately, the Tuohy family took the lost teenager, who was walking down an isolated street, and saw full potential in him as a person and an athlete.

Moreover, John Lee Hancock who has always had a particular interest in creating movies based on true stories directed this 2009 sports drama. With his talent, “The Blind Side” won an Academy Award for best actress due to Sandra Bullock’s outstanding acting and the legendary Golden Globe for best actress when the movie was newly released.

The film’s notable artistry allowed me to see the difficult times and joyous times of life. Specifically, the tragic scenes in the movie tended to have dark surroundings and a cloudy background, but the joyous days of Oher’s life had a bright background encompassed around Oher’s family and friends. Also, the overall theme of this movie, the lows and highs of life, had a very intriguing feel because of Hancock’s extraordinary directing and made it seem as if I was in the movie as well because of the engaging dialogue said between the characters.

Although the positives of this movie outweigh the negatives, one drawback of “The Blind Side” is its slow start. The first ten to fifteen minutes of the film are very confusing due to the various number of scenes shown at once. Nevertheless, its PG-13 rating allows almost everyone to watch the two hour and nine minute film for himself through his own perspective. I would definitely recommend this movie to everyone, even those who find sports dramas unexciting or boring.
Moreover, I would give this move five out of five stars since it is a must see for any movie lover or sports fanatic who would be fascinated to watch a captivating film. Also, anyone who loves an emotional movie should watch “The Blind Side” if he is ready for shocking plot twists.

All in all, “The Blind Side” is unquestionably an emotional roller coaster because of its spectacular storyline. With its true plot, the movie is bound to make anyone enthralled to the screen.
