Let us go back, 27 years to 1990. The movie “IT” is based off Stephen King’s book. King is an author known for his frightening novels and short stories. For example, King wrote Misery, The Shining and Carrie that were later made into horror movies.

“IT” shocked the world in 1990 and is still known as one of the most terrifying movies to ever be made.

The movie takes place in the year 1960 in a fictitious town called Derry. The plot revolves around one of the first scenes when teenager Bill Denbrough (Richard Thomas), gives his little brother, Georgie (Tony Dakota), a paper sailboat. Georgie sails the boat along the rainy streets of their neighborhood and is disappointed when it falls down a storm drain. When he attempts to retrieve it, Georgie sees a clown in the sewer, who introduces himself as “Pennywise the Dancing Clown” (Tim Curry). The clown entices Georgie to come closer, then severs his arm and drags him into the sewer.

Furthermore, Bill Denbrough, Georgie’s brother is a high school student at Derry High with friends who also start to see this clown. This gives Bill and his friends a motive to search for his missing brother and other high school students who have gone missing in previous years. This decision by Bill to give Georgie a paper sailboat sets the plot for the rest of the film. Ultimately, Bill starts a hunt for Georgie.

This movie is most terrifying to a teenagers and scared me because of the young characters in the movie. The film enables teenagers to relate and engage in the plot more than people who are not teenagers. Because of the special effects and phenomenal acting “IT” has been a very mature and next generation film for being made in the 1990’s.

Finally, through the whole film the actor’s performance was phenomenal, which made for an eerie story and very relatable plot. I loved the film and would 10/10 recommend for people of any age, especially teenagers.
