Glenbard South Performs The Addams Family

Tonight the Glenbard South Drama Department will put on its first performance of The Addams Family, a musical comedy by Andrew Lippa and a book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice. The musical is based off of The Addams Family characters created by Charles Addams. In the story, Wednesday Addams, played by lead Maggie Micklo, grows up and confides in her father, played by Dale Nelson, that she is engaged to Lucas Beineke, enacted by Nick Sabri. The conflict begins when Uncle Fester (Ian Rose) decides to enlist the help of the Addams family ancestors against Wednesday’s discovery of love. The musical thus follows the development of both Wednesday’s and the others’ relationships, along with Morticia Addams’ (Stephanie Mauer), Pugsley Addams’ (Tyler Shaw), Grandma’s (Kara Clese), Lurch (Justin Martinez), Alice Beineke’s (Al Groppi) and Mal Beineke’s (Alex Sellers) reactions to all of the drama and secrets that ensue. The clash of the typical world of the Beinekes and the morbid, macabre-loving world of the Addams Family causes the themes of love, family, and coming-of-age to resonate strongly in the illustrious performance.
