You can’t beat this authentic Italian restaurant, or as the Italians would call it, a “ristorante.” Starting out as a franchise in November of 1991, this 23 year old high-end cafe has been home to many customers in the suburban area for years and continues to grow in size as the days go on. Maggiano’s is full of gourmet Italian food with a spectacular gnocchi in tomato and vodka sauce.

A pursuit to replicate the heart of Italy itself, Maggiano’s is astounding and offers delicious food and pleasing restaurant layout.

Walking into Maggiano’s has an atmosphere of a genuine Italian experience. The Italian look is achieved through the dim lights and various pictures of people and places in little Italy. When speaking to one of the managers at Maggiano’s he explained the reason for these specific looks are because it goes with the theme of the restaurant. The arrangement of the restaurant is meant to be a mirror image of a Pre-World War II little Italy look. It is meant to represent that image of a little community Italian restaurant, accentuated with checkered tablecloths, pictures hanging on every wall of family members from little Italy, along with the faintly lighted rooms and the soft Italian music playing above.

In terms of the food, Maggiano’s features Italy’s fine dining qualities with their soft Italian bread complemented with light Italian oil with garlic, cheese and fresh Italian herbs added to it.

Additionally, the most positive aspect to take away from this restaurant is the mouth watering and unbelievably appetizing replication of true Italian food. Just a bite of its  fettuccini alfredo tossed with garlic in an asiago cream sauce, or their homemade gnocchi with Italian sausage topped with a special vodka sauce that only they produce, will instantly indulge any culinary enthusiast into the heart of Italy and its cuisine.

An assortment of appetizers and entrees is offered at Maggiano’s from the popular selection of the crispy zucchini to the famous rigatoni. The crispy zucchini is coated with a panko bread-crumb crust and deep fried to perfection. Before it is put on a plate, it is dusted with a dash of parmesan cheese and added with a side of lemon aioli sauce that is to die for. Notably, neatness and order is Maggiano’s motto; therefore, before the zucchini is given to the customer, it is wrapped and laid on a white cloth to eliminate the oil spill onto the plate.

A deciding factor in the rating of a restaurant is its food in terms of quality over quantity or vice-versa. Well, Maggiano’s found a way to make both of these aspects true. All food options, whether it be appetizers, entrée or even desserts fill the plate and leave you full afterwards. Sometimes it is even too much food for one person to handle. Not only is there a large amount of food, but it is beyond tasteful as well.

The hostess and waiters at Maggiano’s are polite and helpful. In a sit-down interview with manager Joshua Janovsky, he stated, “We will do anything we can to make a customer happy and want to come back. If a customer sees that his favorite meal is not on the menu or use to be and was taken down, if we have those ingredients to make that specific meal for that customer, by all means we will get it done. We, as a staff and as a restaurant of this stature, will never deny a customer of what they want.”

Customer satisfaction plays a big role in the atmosphere of how a business is run and Maggiano’s goes above and beyond all expectations.

Every part of the restaurant is clean and organized; the bar area is inviting and serves as a relaxation space and waiting area for hungry guests. Bartenders keep customers comfortable as they wait for their table. The staff makes cleanliness a priority as dining tables are never left untouched or dirty. The ambiance of the restaurant is carried into the restrooms where Italian music is played softly and attention to cleanliness a must.

The only thing to take away from this exquisite restaurant is the feeling of gaining 10 pounds the second you exit the building. But in all seriousness, Maggiano’s balances its elegance and its food with its prices perfectly. Maggiano’s offers a wide selection offering several pasta dishes served with cheeses, vegetable eggplant rolled in pasta,  baked Ziti with crumbled sausage or chicken piccata with a touch of garlic and lemon to name a few. Soups and salads highlight the menu to complete a four course meal. Most entrees are under $15.00 and seafood entrees, slightly more. Guests can start off with many of the appetizers offered and finish their meal with Maggiano’s signature tiramisu. The appetizers are no more than $10.00 and this restaurant offers a complimentary dessert to guests celebrating a birthday or special occasion.

This extravagant restaurant has all of the qualities it needs to be a successful and thriving company. And it does just that; it has an amazing customer satisfaction rating, its atmosphere is different but historical, and its gourmet food tops it all off. Maggiano’s is a state of the art restaurant and definitely worth checking out.
