Creative Writing Club Hosts Premier Slam Poetry Fundraiser

Matilda McLaren, School News/ In-Depth Writer

Creative Writing Club showcased an extensive production on March 18th for the first ever Open Mic Night at Glenbard South, a fundraiser where staff and students could perform specialized pieces in the form of stories, songs, speeches, or acting bits. The club hoped to accrue enough funds to facilitate a diverse, student-led literary magazine.

The response to the event included remarks of excitement and expectation for Open Mic Night to become an annual Glenbard South tradition, one that fosters a supportive community of artists who explore complex emotions and deliver meaningful messages through stories.

“Our students showcased their creative works filled with all of what makes the human experience: deep emotions of anticipation, jealousy, love, fear, humor and beauty!” remarked Principal Jessica Santee on Twitter.

The positive feedback towards Creative Writing Club and their poetry event indicates that the group will continue to make an impactful presence within the Glenbard South community in the future.
