Fall sport guidelines

Meghan Baehl, Sports Editor

Although the fall season for raider athletes will look a lot different this year due to global pandemic, there is still a lot to look forward to! Starting Monday, August tenth, girls and boys cross country and golf, as well as girls swimming and tennis returned for their fall season!

Due to the global pandemic, and Glenbard South’s commitment to keeping every student healthy, the fall season will come with a series of guidelines that align with IHSA that will be implemented by Mr. Tim Carlson, the Assistant Principal for Athletics. These guidelines will be as follows: Athletes will wear masks upon arriving to practice and contests, during their daily temperature and symptom check, and when they will leave. Athletes will maintain social distance of six feet whenever possible. If a minimum of six feet apart will not be a possibility, athletes will be required to wear their masks during their activities. Similarly, coaches will wear masks at all times, regardless of social distance. Athletes and coaches will also be expected to sanitize their hands while at practice and competitions. Aligning with Glenbard South’s policy regarding transportation during this time, masks will be worn while riding the buses to and from contests. Athletes will provide their own water, towels, and any other necessary personal items. The sharing of equipment as well as access to the locker room will be prohibited. The coaches will make sure that all equipment is disinfected prior to and after use.

If you missed tryouts or have any questions regarding the regulations for your sport, please see the list of coaches and their contact information below.
