Venom, directed by Ruben Fleischer, premiered October 5 of this year, and has already hit 172 million dollars in the United States alone and has peaked the interest of all types of people, from movie lovers to comic book enthusiasts.

Venom follows the story of journalist Eddie Brock(Tom Hardy) as he tries to enlighten the public to the unethical experiments of Carlton Drake(Riz Ahmed), the founder of the Life Foundation. While trying to crack down on Drake’s experiments, Brock becomes the host of the alien life form called Venom. While bonded to Venom, Brock develops Venom’s ability–which includes manifesting into Venom itself– and is trying to fight for some kind of control of this alien.

The premiere of Venom is what everyone was looking forward to ever since the first trailer aired months ago. I walked into the movie theater practically shaking with excitement; Venom was always a villian/anti-hero that I loved as a kid for his cool appearance and incredible abilities. Seeing this movie, I had high expectations. Venom was a character I knew from his origin to his demeanor, so I was able to see the tiny adjustments the director made throughout the movie. I already knew that the original plot would change, seeing that the Spider-Man character, which was Venom’s first host, would not be in the movie at all, but I was still excited and curious to see what the director, Fleischer, could do that would still keep the same Venom I saw. By the end of the movie I was ultimately satisfied.

Venom from beginning to the end was a fun and incredible movie to watch. Tom Hardy, who plays Brock and voices Venom, did a fantastic job in making Venom a fun and interesting character and gave some comedy to the movie when needed. I was impressed by the amount of screen time the whole manifestation of Venom had, seeing as some movies and TV shows usually do not give much screen time to characters that require CGI like Ghost and the Dragons in the show Game of Thrones. Overall the plot of Venom was a little off from its original Marvel storyline, but still managed to display the characters as very similar in their demeanor and actions.

Venom is a movie of amazing quality, from the CGI of Venom to its fantastic actors that portray each role.

I rate this movie a 8 out of 10, as it was very fun to watch, and Hardy really sold his character throughout the movie. Also Venom was a character that was very cool to watch how the director overall portray Venom. However, the plot itself did not  follow the original story line, which makes the movie, for me, not perfect.
