Human history has shown that the teenage standards of beauty are not objective. Societies, civilizations, cultures and periods of time are attributed to being a factor in what some deem “beautiful.”

It is important to evaluate factors regarding teenage standards of beauty. In contemporary America, the standards of beauty are dictated heavily by pop culture and media. A noteworthy example of this culture is the famous musicians and the aesthetics they flaunt. The clothes that Lil Yachty wears influences teenage guys a lot. This clothing style is widely branded as “street wear”. The clothes Taylor Swift wears influences girls too. She wears clothes that are fashionable takes on normal clothes: jeans, jackets and footwear. This is because American society places an immense value in what famous people wear. It causes teenagers to want to imitate these fashion to appear more involved in what’s “cool”. This is a reason why teens want to wear what a famous person wears because of this need to be involved. It’s especially difficult because teenagers want to fit in and they have trouble being more secure in being who they are. If anyone even knows who they are at that point.

The beauty standards of weight in contemporary America is very polarizing. It used to be that thinner was more attractive in females. In current times , there is a “pro bigger” movement in the increasingly progressive youth. People are being reassured that being bigger is just as beautiful as being thin. The American youth empathizes this a lot and it seems to be reaching a point where thin people are not what is

currently “beautiful”. The weight standards are changing but there is also a racial change. There is an increased influx of support for diversity. This diversity is in the form of skin color. Americans are beginning to see more people seeing beauty in different skin colors. This is a major factor in America’s beauty standards due to its shameful past. Now, Americans are seeing a great change in how they see skin color. There are more billboards and notice of colored people in our society, which clues them into how Americans are placing diverse skin color high on the list of what is beautiful.

Teenage standards of beauty in contemporary America are highly reflected in popular culture and racial diversity. These two factors are the most important regarding beauty standards. It represents what Americans consider to be beautiful.
