One summer can be a dangerous, incredible time. Ashton and Sawyer have been dating for three years. However, when Sawyer goes away for the summer, Ashton starts to get lovesick, and it is not for her boyfriend, it is her boyfriend’s cousin, Beau, her ex best friend. Abbi Glines writes a story that will consume whoever starts reading it to finish it as soon as possible.
To begin with, Ashton, Sawyer Vincent, the town prince and Beau Vincent, the bad boy, live in a small town. Ever since they were kids, the three of them did everything together. Until Ashton and Sawyer start dating, and Beau is cut out of the picture. This little stunt of Sawyer’s causes the trio to break up, and the friendship is no longer there.
Well, three years later, Sawyer goes on a trip with his family before senior year starts and leaves Ashton alone. Ashton does not know what to do while Sawyer’s gone because all her time and energy is spent with him. But this changes when she sees Beau drunk and about to start driving.
Beau loves Ashton with all his heart, but he cannot tell her or Sawyer that because she is Sawyer’s girlfriend. Also, Sawyer has been there for Beau through thick and thin, and he is his best friend. So, Beau decides to rekindle his and Ashton’s friendship that was lost to see if there are any similar feelings between them.
What Beau does not know is that Ashton feels the same way about him. She loves Sawyer, but not in the way she loves Beau. She hides her true rebellious self from Sawyer because he is the town’s prince. So when Beau contacts her, she can not resist but agree to revive their friendship.
Unfortunately, friendship is not on either of Ashton or Beau’s minds. Instead, being more than friends is. They both know that it is wrong, but they can not resist to be together. Nothing can ruin their affection toward each other because they care that deeply for one another.
Throughout this book, Glines, the author, switches perspectives between Beau and Ashton. To start, Glines gets very into Ashton and Beau’s relationship, and that is what makes this book so fascinating. Glines also goes into depth of how long they kept their feelings for each other silent. Regarding this, I can tell how much they care for each other emotionally because of all the expressive word choice Glines uses. Therefore, there is no denying the chemistry that floats between Beau and Ashton throughout the whole entire book.
As well as this,, I give this book a four out of five stars because it was emotionally riveting all the way through. Also, my heart races every time they almost get caught being together. As a result, my heart almost stopped when Sawyer came back to town early, but one has to read the book to find out what happened in the end.
In addition, I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a romantic young adult genre. It is perfect for the month of February because the book has to do with restarting, breaking and uncovering relationships.
