Noah Kahan’s Live at Fenway recording of his album “Stick Season” proves that we actually will “all be here forever.” Kahan gained a large fanbase following the release of his single, “Hurt Somebody”, in 2019 and followed this with an EP later that year. In 2022, Kahan released “Stick Season”, which became an immediate success. Due to increased demand, Kahan then released an extended version of his album, calling it “Stick Season: We’ll All Be Here Forever,” now including extra songs and features, as well as highlighting his strong northeastern roots. Two years later, Kahan is still touring the country.
One of the biggest critiques of Kahan’s newest recording is from his own fans. Many think that he is milking the fame of “Stick Season”, and is more of a one-hit wonder. However, the versatility and lyricism gifted to us by Kahan is something the music industry has never experienced before. Kahan’s ability to turn a song about concern for a friend’s safety (Call Your Mom) into something hopeful is extremely inspiring. A song about losing your sense of place, and starting over (Paul Revere) is turned into a lifeline to people who feel tied down.
Many of Kahan’s songs on the new album feature popular guest artists like Post Malone, Gracie Abrams, and Hozier. They focus on a sense of belonging and identity, and each song is a breath of fresh New England air. “Stick Season” Live at Fenway delivers the same heartwarming feelings, while still producing an incomparable electric excitement to the listeners. His music is both nostalgic, new, and entirely unique.
