Halloween costume trends
An overview of costumes to wear
With Halloween approaching, some may be wondering what costume to pick. The usual witch, wizard or even vampire costume may not work anymore. If you are trying to look for something new, here are some of this year’s current trends.
First up on the list will be Elsa from Disney’s “Frozen.” This hot and cold character had people falling head-over-heels in love with her. Elsa needs only a few cost efficient materials: a long-sleeve, preferably floor length, blue dress and heels. To complete the “Elsa look,” one can braid one’s hair into a single side braid.
Another simple costume from Disney’s “Frozen” is Olaf. Olaf’s fun-loving, adorable personality made him the most loved character of “Frozen.” For this look, one would need brown leggings. a white puffy dress, a long sleeve brown shirt and a paper carrot. Tape the paper carrot to one’s nose, and the costume is complete.
The next costume will be the “Ice-Water Challenge” costume. The “ice water challenge” was this summer’s hottest trend. It swept the nation and helped raise money for the ALS Association. This costume will be very simple. Simply take a bucket and attach a clear shower curtain to the bucket. Hold the bucket overhead and wear all blue clothing to complete the costume.
The next costume will be Tris from “Divergent.” Tris was a naive, strong-willed, sixteen-year old girl, perfect for high schoolers. To create the “Tris look.” one will need black pants, a black shirt and a black jacket. Wearing little to no make-up will add to the “Divergent look.” For those who are artistic, one can draw Tris’s signature tattoo with eyeliner. It is three black birds starting from the left collar bone, leading to the heart. For a couple’s costume, Tris and Four would be perfect. For the Four costume, one would need again black pants, a black shirt and a black jacket.
Another great costume is Katniss from “The Hunger Games.” Katniss’s strong, loving and keen nature made fans fall in love with the series. For this costume, one would need green pants, a black shirt and a black rain jacket. Braided hair would go perfect with this costume. Furthermore, one could use a bow and arrow to complete this look.
These are just a few of the hundreds of Halloween costumes. However, halloween costumes do not have to extravagant and expensive. They can be simple costumes can be made at home with minimal supplies.
