Raiders get running start

The Raiders girls’ cross country team ran remarkably well in the first meet of the season at the Morris Early Bird Invitational, Wednesday, August 22.

First up,  junior varsity runners Kylie DeNardo and Abby Knight finished first and second earning their team a head start on the JV Championship Plaque.  A special mention has gone to Knight taking twenty-eight seconds off of her career best and having earned a new personal record for the three-mile race.

Make way for the varsity team which has included  Ania Gniatczyk (7th- 20:49.50), Ellie Stewart (8th- 20:53.20), Julia Clingen (12th- 21:16.40), Kelly Anderson (14th- 21:28.2) Mikayla Jacoby (23rd- 23:03), Ali Salt (25th- 23:11.50), and Gisela Hagedorn (34th- 23:43.10) who snatched the second place trophy.

Head coach, Mark Tacchi took the top five runners from the previous meet, and they blew away last season’s final race by one minute and forty-six seconds.

The girls cross country team will compete in their next three-mile race at Black Partridge Park in the Metamora Runnin’ Red Invite on Saturday, October 6.
