Athletic trainers assist athletes

If one is interested in sports, but does not actually want to be part of a team, athletic training club is the perfect club. This club works with the athletic trainers, Jess Brakto and Meghan Lockerby, at Glenbard South High School to  help students learn how to deal with a variety of sport injuries.

Senior Kaitlyn Sweeney, is the president of Athletic Training club. “Though we are few in number, we are really a close knit family,” said Sweeney. “The club is also rewarding in the sense that it is educational because it gives students insight into medical/health carriers.”

The clubs every Monday during PLC, until athletic practices, contests and games are over. Afterwards, students have the option to stay and watch the games. So then, if an athlete gets injured, these students are brought in to help the injured athlete to the best of their abilities, whether that means helping tape the athlete, providing ice or any other treatment they may be able to do.

All in all, the Athletic Training club is a great club for one to join if he is interested in sport medicine, or even sports in general.
