Alessia Cara: Here to Stay

photoAlessia Cara’s hit song “Here” has become an overplayed pop radio hit. But her talent has not ended there. Her debut album, “Know-It-All,” was released November 15, 2015, and has reached number nine on the billboard charts and was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. This shows that Cara has just gotten started on what will surely be an incredible career.

Cara is a nineteen year old from Canada who has been singing and playing guitar since she was ten years old. Cara won best Original Song at the Streamy awards for her song “Here,” breakthrough Artist of the Year at Juno Awards and most performed songs at ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) Pop Music Awards. Currently, she just finished headlining a nineteen-city tour following the release of her album “Know-It-All.” This summer, Cara will be opening for Coldplay’s’ A Head Full Of Dreams world tour. This tour will be playing some of the biggest stadiums in the country and will gain a lot of attention for Cara’s album.

The album “Know-It-All” muses over staying young but at the same time hating the feelings and social situations that come at this age. Her breakout single, “Here” is an anthem for those who have not enjoyed the social norm of teenage parties. Other songs include “Outlaws” in which Cara sings about finding that longed for (romantic) partner-in-crime, “Wild Things” which has brought out the rebellious teenager in Cara, and “Stone,” an acoustic love song about a firm and steady love.  “Know-It-All” has a balance of upbeat, catchy songs to hum along to and raw, acoustic songs that pull at one’s heartstrings.

Cara has already been breaking through and showing the world what she’s been. This future gig of opening for Coldplay will give her the attention she has worked for, and her career will likely explode from there. At 19, Cara has the passion and potential to create a big name for herself.
