Raiders in the spotlight

Mary Poppins the Broadway musical took place on February 18-20 at the College of Dupage. It was a successful event where group of friends and family members got together. Junior Laurel Bacote, along with a group of three other junior girls from Glenbard South, Emily Maruyama, Michelle O’Dowd and Haley Mitacek all took part in this performance.

Even though it is too late to become part of this year’s performances, everyone can get involved, and it is very easy to do so. Students must join the Spotlight Youth Theater, which offers singing, dancing, acting and musical theater. Once they are enrolled, they will be able to audition for musicals and other performances.

There are many roles offered in the musicals. No one role is easy, but if students put in hard work and determination, it can be a very fulfilling and fun experience to share with fellow students. Raiders that took part in this year’s Mary Poppins musical were very proud of each other and excited, knowing they had put on an entertaining show. This musical was not just a fun event for the students, but an exciting event for family and friends to attend.

“Anything can happen if you let it,” said Bacote. This sums up the play because it encouraged people to go forth in life and never stop dreaming.
