Gay Straight Alliance, GSA, has been a club for students of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, Pansexual and Asexual community (LGBTQPA). However, it is encouraged that supporters of the community join as well.

Thomas Kallas, the current club sponsor, explained, “Any student of any background or social orientation that wants to help promote tolerance and acceptance of people with different sexual orientations would be interested in GSA.”

The goal is to provide a positive community for students of other sexual orientations. Kallas said, “I found that there was a group of students at Glenbard South that were in need of a safe place to go where they could find support and promote tolerance of the diversity of sexual identities and orientations.”

Kallas also said, “We hold discussions about topics related to helping raise awareness about the diversity of sexual orientation. GSA will make Glenbard South more appreciative of our differences. GSA strives to make people more aware of the diversity at Glenbard South in general, whether it be race, language, socioeconomic status, religion or sexual orientation.”

GSA meets every other Tuesday in room 106. Everyone is welcome to join, and food will be provided every week. No one has to be a part of the LGBTQPA community to join. All one needs to be is accepting because it is still supposed to be a safe place for everyone.
