Wet and Dry

Wet and Dry

What comes to a makeup-lover’s mind when he/she thinks of makeup? Foundation, highlight, eyeshadow, mascara and lots of imagination. But in my opinion, there is one thing that brings all of it together- lipstick.
Liquid lipstick has been the latest trend in makeup these last couple of months. It varies in so many different colors from light nudes to deep purples. But what really is all the hype?
For those who do not know what matte liquid lipstick is it is lipstick that goes on wet and dries with a matte finish. Matte liquid lipstick tend to be better than traditional lipstick because of the smooth application it provides. Not only that, but it tends to have a better look than one’s traditional bullet lipstick. Matte liquid lipsticks can smell good, and others might not have any smell at all. One can find L.A. Color Matte Liquid Lipstick for $9.99 at Walgreens or CVS. Alternatively one can buy it from high-end makeup stores like Sephora, Ulta or MAC but the high-end name brings with it a high price tag. For example, MAC sells its liquid lipsticks for $17.00 each.
I personally buy and wear matte liquid lipstick from MAC because the drugstore makeup sometimes is not the best quality, it may not last all day and may cause irritation to the skin. Whereas MAC liquid lipstick is rich in color, glides on smoothly and lasts all-day. Additionally, MAC’s formula is so concentrated which makes a little go a long way.
But, the drugstores do not completely disappoint. One good drugstore brand is NYX; it too applies smoothly, but after a while, it can be a bit patchy. This is a red flag when searching for the right liquid lipstick.
Either way, both of these brands offer liquid lipsticks that would work for matte liquid lipstick application.
I think matte liquid lipsticks have been a great addition to the makeup industry. They really draws attention to the lips with the matte finish they bring and the vibrant color that livens any skin tone. I think matte liquid lipstick will remain popular for the simple fact that it trumps over your traditional creamy lipstick that tends to smear and run off only after a couple hours.
